About The Position

An internship with American Family Insurance is a great opportunity to build your skillset and explore your career interests. Our summer student internship is a 10 to 14 week program that starts in mid to late May and ends in August. During your internship, you'll work on impactful projects that make a difference at our company, with our customers, and in our communities. You'll also gain exposure to different areas of our business and have numerous opportunities for networking and coaching. Interns may be eligible for a one-time hiring bonus to assist with housing costs depending upon proximity to an AmFam Group office. As a Legal Support Services intern, you will partner with attorneys and paralegals to assist in the defense of our customers through drafting pleadings, discovery, and correspondence, ordering medical records and other tasks as assigned. This role will report to a Legal Services Manager.

Requirements

  • Must be in student status at an accredited 4-year college or university during the internship.
  • Graduating August 2026 or later.
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD.
  • Major/program must align with internship role.
  • Pursuing a degree in Legal Studies, Pre-Law, Paralegal Studies or Political Science.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of our business, corporate culture and structure to support your work.
  • Contribute creative ideas and strategic approaches in response to changing situations.
  • May assume the duties normally performed in the department, alongside professionals who perform these roles.
  • Generate various types of legal and claims correspondence.
  • Presents project results to management and/or department personnel.
  • Performs analytical work within the assigned functional area.
  • Other duties as assigned.
