About The Position

An internship with American Family Insurance is a great opportunity to build your skillset and explore your career interests. Our summer student internship is a 10 to 14 week program that starts in mid to late May and ends in August. During your internship, you'll work on impactful projects that make a difference at our company, with our customers, and in our communities. You'll also gain exposure to different areas of our business and have numerous opportunities for networking and coaching. Interns may be eligible for a one-time hiring bonus to assist with housing costs depending upon proximity to an AmFam office location. As an Information Security intern, you will play a key role in advancing security awareness by assisting with the development and distribution of phishing simulation emails, drafting articles for internal employee facing websites, and helping to organize and lead educational panels and webinars. You will gain hands-on experience in promoting a culture of cybersecurity while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful training and resources.

Requirements

  • Must be in student status at an accredited 4-year college or university during the internship, graduating August 2026 or later.
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD.
  • Major/program must align with internship role.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of information security, cybersecurity or risk management a plus.
  • Due to the nature of this role, we are unable to consider candidates who may require visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of our business, corporate culture and structure to support your work.
  • Contribute creative ideas and strategic approaches in response to changing situations.
  • Create and distribute phishing simulation emails.
  • Draft and publish security awareness content.
  • Plan and facilitate educational panels and webinars focused on security awareness and risk mitigation.
  • Develop a security awareness program for agencies to share with their customers.
