About The Position

An internship with American Family Insurance is a great opportunity to build your skillset and explore your career interests. Our summer student internship is a 10 to 14 week program that starts in mid to late May and ends in August. During your internship, you'll work on impactful projects that make a difference at our company, with our customers, and in our communities. You'll also gain exposure to different areas of our business and have numerous opportunities for networking and coaching. Interns may be eligible for a one-time hiring bonus to assist with housing costs depending upon proximity to an AmFam office location. As an Enterprise Platform Engineering intern, you will work alongside Senior Engineers on projects that support the datacenter engineering goals. You will build and enhance technology platforms which protects data and ensures disaster recovery across all on-prem & cloud platforms. As an intern, you'll channel your passion for tech into solutions, using automation to scale and simplify complex tasks while making a meaningful impact.

Requirements

  • Must be in student status at an accredited 4-year college or university during the internship, graduating August 2026 or later.
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD.
  • Major/program must align with internship role.
  • Experience with source code management, DevOps tooling preferred.
  • Experience with coding platforms such as Python, Bash, and Ansible is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of application architecture, design alternatives, and development standards.
  • Due to the nature of this role, we are unable to consider candidates who may require visa sponsorship.

  • Collaborate with platform engineers to develop and enhance technology solutions for data protection and disaster recovery across multiple cloud platforms.
  • Design and implement automation scripts to streamline and scale complex technical tasks.
  • Apply your passion for technology to solve real-world challenges and contribute to the team’s innovative projects.
