Position Summary The Continuous Improvement Process Intern will be involved in key projects regarding process improvement and business process optimization. This position works closely with the complex and exciting daily responsibilities of operating a theme park or attraction. Key functions of this position include assisting with data analysis, process mapping, labor optimization, and project management across all Herschend operating locations.

Requirements

  • Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Economics, or Business Management
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to frequently travel to US park locations throughout the summer (70-80% expected travel)
  • Basic understanding of demand-based planning strongly preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint required
  • Ability to think creatively while maintaining accordance with business constraints
  • Proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a friendly attitude.
  • Proven ability to manage time efficiently and meet deadlines while juggling multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively work with business and technical teams.
  • Must be comfortable speaking in front of large groups and be able to communicate complex concepts to audiences of varying skill and knowledge levels

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work or internship experience involving data analytics, project management, or similar duties preferred
  • Previous hospitality, theme park, or waterpark experience is a plus
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Power BI or similar data analytics tool is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Analyze historical data to identify key trends and indicators on top of which future labor management practices will be based
  • Complete labor studies at Herschend parks which include data gathering, time in motion studies, process observations, and providing recommendations to varying levels of park personnel
  • Prepare action plans for gaining labor efficiency and institute follow-up procedures to ensure execution
  • Assist leadership with overseeing and managing the overall project
  • Prepare project status update presentations on regular cadence for varying levels of leadership
  • Work with stakeholders at all levels including but not limited to front line team members, park operations managers, park GMs, and Property Support Center leadership
  • Quickly understand processes to identify optimization possibilities
  • All other duties assigned by leadership
