Ready to get started? The proposed position is based in R&D, CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls) Development supporting activities in the Data Science group. Sanofi is committed to becoming the first biopharma to do AI at scale by harnessing the full value of data and responsibly building AI products. A global initiative called “iCMC Digital Transformation” has been digitizing scientific / lab workflows over the last few years. This unique and ambitious program spanning over 2,500+ users and 10+ countries, has already resulted in a lot of data with tremendous potential to turn CMC into an AI-powered organization. This summer intern will directly support this vision by exploring the development of Agentic AI approaches embedded as part of the digitalization of workflows that would help accelerate this digital transformation. Specifically, the role would entail the design, development, and evaluation of AI agents that transform in part or the whole lab workflow digitalization. Some of these agents would be built to deliver capabilities such as, but not limited to: Turning user requirements from process scientists into specific user stories for enhancing electronic lab notebook features or support method development, Developing a parser that turns equipment results file into machine readable results output, and Developing automated visualizations from the data In addition, the intern might have the opportunity to support AI capabilities of some of the in-house platforms for suitability within Sanofi CMC workflows

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a master's degree or PhD in Chemical, Biological or Biochemical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Science, or related field with the expectation that you will complete your current degree by the Spring of 2027
  • Coursework or research experience in Artificial Intelligence with focus on Large Language Models and building AI Agents
  • Must be enrolled in school the semester following your internship/co-op with Sanofi
  • Must be able to relocate to the office location and work 40hrs/week, Monday-Friday, for the full duration of the co-op/internship (work onsite at least 3 days a week)
  • Must be authorized to work in the US for the duration of the internship

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and some experience of working in cloud-based environments such as AWS or GCP or Azure and using cloud-technologies for building AI-solutions
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle and general understanding of the deployment of AI/ML solutions (e.g. CI/CD, Orchestration)
  • Ability to create visualizations using tools like Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly or Tableau to communicate insights effectively
  • Good exposure with core data science languages (with Python, and R), Snowflake and other database systems (such as SQL, NoSQL)
  • Hands on with Data science workflows such as data manipulation, data analysis and machine learning tasks
  • Coursework or research experience in biologics or synthetics process development or biopharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle
  • Strong interest in bringing AI-first mindset in day-to-day scientific workflows
  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn
