What You Will Be Doing The Industrial Engineering Intern – Labor Management will support the refinement, validation, and operationalization of the Labor Management Program at the Lakeville Center of Excellence Distribution Center. This role will focus on analyzing and validating configurations within Manhattan Active Labor Management and partnering with warehouse Operations leadership to ensure labor standards, reporting, and system outputs accurately reflect operational execution. The intern will work closely with Industrial Engineering, Operations Managers, and Supervisors to help transition Labor Management from a configured system to a fully adopted, day-to-day operational tool used to manage productivity, labor utilization, and continuous improvement. The Industrial Engineering Intern will expect to: Review and validate Manhattan Active Labor Management configuration, including labor activities, indirects, hierarchies, and associate groupings. Observe warehouse operations across inbound, outbound, and support functions to ensure system settings align with actual processes. Partner with Operations Managers and Supervisors to understand workflows and identify gaps between system configuration and floor execution. Analyze labor productivity and utilization data to validate accuracy and consistency of reported results. Assist in identifying improvement opportunities related to labor tracking, reporting, and standard usage. Support the development of job aids, documentation, or reference materials to help operational leaders use Labor Management data effectively. Document findings, recommendations, and outcomes, and present progress updates to Engineering and Distribution leadership. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional discussions related to labor performance and operational efficiency. Gain hands-on experience using Manhattan Active Labor Management in a live distribution environment. Understand how engineered labor concepts are applied and sustained in warehouse operations, as well as develop practical skills in data analysis, system validation, process observation, and change enablement. Learn how Industrial Engineering partners with Operations to drive adoption of labor management tools.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work on-site in a warehouse environment, walk the distribution floor, and stand for extended periods as needed
  • Ability to observe operations and engage with floor leadership

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework in Supply Chain or Operations Management a plus
  • Exposure to warehouse or distribution operations strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (Manhattan Active preferred).
  • Interest in labor management, productivity analysis, or continuous improvement.
  • Experience with data visualization or reporting tools (e.g., Power BI)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, operational environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
