BACKGROUND: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. At work in over 40 countries and 28 US cities to restore safety, dignity, and hope, the IRC leads the way from harm to home. Domestically, our 28 offices across the US ensure new arrivals have food, shelter, and clothing and work with refugees to help them gain self-sufficiency. SCOPE OF INTERN WORK: This internship is an excellent opportunity for a current graduate/undergraduate student to gain exposure to the operations of a large international organization while practicing and applying Grant Management methods to maximize the reach of IRC programming in Atlanta GA. Please note that all internship positions are unpaid.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled graduate student or undergraduate student in a related field of International Relations/Development, Social Work, Global Human resources, Learning and Development; Non-Profit Management, International Business, or other relevant fields.
  • Comfort with research, organizing content, and liaising with staff.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate.
  • Ability to use basic functions of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs
  • English fluency is required.
  • Must submit intern hours on volunteer portal.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Commitment of 15 hours per week for a minimum of 3 consecutive months.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Please note that we are unable to provide sponsorship for a US work authorization.
  • The is an in-person position.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Grants Coordinator to review IRC Atlanta’s donor prospecting strategy.
  • Grow a database for opportunities identified and conduct ongoing research related to the pre-award grant opportunities.
  • Update grants calendar regularly.
  • Attend grants webinars and information sessions.
  • Draft grant proposal for Grant Coordinator or Development Director review.
  • Provide support as needed in other areas of identified projects.
  • Submit intern hours on volunteer dashboard.
  • Other duties as assigned
