As an Indirect Tax Intern at T-Mobile, you’ll gain hands-on experience in the dynamic world of telecommunications taxation. Working alongside experienced tax professionals, you will support compliance, reporting, and research functions while learning how state and local indirect taxes impact a Fortune 100 business. This role is designed to give you practical exposure to tax processes, technology, and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

  • Current student pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.
  • Strong academic performance with interest in tax, accounting, or financial analysis
  • Basic understanding of tax concepts or coursework in taxation preferred
  • Excel experience, with data analytics tools such as Alteryx and SQL a plus
  • Ability to work simultaneously on numerous projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently on assignments
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and enthusiasm for learning in a fast-paced environment.
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree program or graduated within the last year
  • Employees of T-Mobile or Metro by T-Mobile are ineligible for internships
  • Employer does not sponsor work visas for this position. Note that this also applies to individuals who are students in F-1 status who desire sponsorship after they complete their education.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation and review of indirect tax returns (sales/use, telecom, gross receipts, property tax).
  • Prepare reconciliations and documentation to support monthly and quarterly tax filings.
  • Support tax research projects by analyzing statutes, rulings, and regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Help gather, organize, and analyze data used for tax compliance and audit defense.
  • Participate in system testing and process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency.
  • Collaborate with various tax teams, including tax compliance, revenue tax, consumption tax, property tax, tax policy, and income tax.
  • Present findings and recommendations to the Indirect Tax team.
