BACKGROUND: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. At work in over 40 countries and 28 U.S. cities to restore safety, dignity and hope, the IRC leads the way from harm to home. The IRC office in Miami has been serving the community since the 1960s. Over the decades, IRC in Miami has provided critical support to refugees, asylees, survivors of human trafficking, unaccompanied minors, immigrant youth, and their families. SCOPE OF DIGITAL INNOVATION INTERN WORK: This internship is part of a new Digital Innovation initiative within the Florida team, which is focused on exploring and developing practical technology and AI-driven solutions to strengthen services for survivors of human trafficking in IRC’s Miami office. This initiative aims to identify opportunities to improve program efficiency, enhance staff capacity, and expand clients' access to resources through digital tools, automation, and artificial intelligence. The Digital Innovation Intern will work closely with the team to help design, test, and implement new technology-based projects. This may include developing simple automation tools, piloting AI-assisted solutions, improving digital workflows, and helping build internal tools that support program operations. As this is a new and evolving initiative, the intern will play an active role in shaping projects from the ground up. This position is intended for tech-savvy individuals with strong knowledge of computer systems who are doers—people who take initiative, are creative problem-solvers, and are motivated to build and test new ideas. The ideal candidate is curious, innovative, and comfortable working in a startup-like environment within a humanitarian organization, where initiative, adaptability, and hands-on engagement are essential. Please note that all internship positions are unpaid.
