About The Position

The National Partnership for Women & Families is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that fights for equity for all women and families. We advocate on the Hill for federal, state and local policies that advance economic justice, health equity, and civic participation for women, particularly women of color and those who face the greatest barriers to access and opportunity. We’re passionate about making change on big issues such as equal pay for all women, paid leave for working families, and access to affordable health care that provides abortion and reproductive care. Our approach is collaborative, data-driven, and grounded in the real-life experiences of women and working families. Working with state and federal elected officials, departments and agencies, grasstops leaders, and the general public, we educate these stakeholders on the issues and impactful policies. We are seeking a Development Intern to join our Development team to support fundraising efforts, advancing our work across all issue areas. The internship runs from June through August, and operates in a hybrid office environment in Washington, DC. Internship Summary In this role, you will be exposed to various aspects of nonprofit fundraising, including individual philanthropy, event fundraising, institutional giving (including from foundations and corporations), marketing and communications, as well as development operations. You'll gain hands-on experience and insight into a national fundraising operation and receive mentorship from your supervisor and other members of the development team. You will also spend time with interns from other departments to learn how each department contributes to the success of the National Partnership.

Requirements

  • Interest or prior experience in nonprofit development fundraising or operations
  • Strong writing, communication, research, analysis and computer skills
  • Highly organized, attentive to detail, and able to manage multiple tasks for different projects
  • A commitment to the National Partnership’s mission to improve the lives of women and families by achieving equality for all women

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to all Development sub-departments, including Individual Philanthropy, Institutional Relations, and Development Operations.
  • Conduct prospect research and develop funder and donor profiles to support fundraising efforts.
  • Organize fundraising and campaign information for effective presentation in publications, websites, and other media.
  • Support the planning of our Annual Event.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and other activities that support the Development team's work.
