About The Position

The National Partnership for Women & Families is a nonprofit, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization that fights for equity for all women and families. We’re passionate about making change on big issues such as equal pay for all women, paid leave for working families and access to affordable health care that provides abortion and reproductive care. We advocate on the Hill and for federal, state and local policy. The Congressional Relations & Social Impact Intern will work with our fast-paced team to advance the National Partnership’s health and economic justice priorities in Congress and with the business community. At the National Partnership, interns are integrally involved in our day-to-day work and undertake a wide range of activities. Activities will help interns develop skills needed for work in the advocacy world, including legislative research and tracking, writing for a variety of audiences, and preparing for meetings with members of Congress and the business community. Interns will compile news clips, review Congressional hearing schedules, attend or watch Congressional hearings and write summaries, draft correspondence, draft corporate meeting and event briefs, and help manage our Congressional tracking platform. Interns will also have the opportunity to attend briefings, coalition meetings, meetings with members of the National Partnership’s Business Working Group for Gender Equity, and other events on Capitol Hill. Qualifications include strong writing, communication, research, and computer skills; the ability to manage multiple tasks and take initiative; the ability to work independently; a significant degree of organization; and a high level of interest and passion for gender equity and the federal legislative process. Our ideal intern will be full-time and DC-based.
