While some clients are looking for turnkey design-build or engineer-procure-construct projects, The Design & Consulting Team serves clients who need specialized, fee-for-service design or consulting projects. These types of projects allow our team to form a strong rapport with client teams, marshaling them as they grow and helping them address industry and market challenges. The Design & Consulting Team serves four primary markets: Government, primarily the Department of Defense, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Air and Army National Guard, and the U.S. Naval Facilities Command; Industrial, focusing on food and beverage, consumer products, and utilities; Civil Infrastructure; and Healthcare. In this internship, you will perform basic design and production of construction document duties assigned by a Licensed Professional.

  • Pursuit of a professional engineering degree in civil or related discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Must have good personal habits

Responsibilities

  • Produces well-organized, finished design documents of good appearance, accuracy, clarity and correctness from layouts, sketches, or written instructions. Applies discipline design and detailing fundamentals in developing designs and specifications under the supervision of and subject to final approval by the Licensed Professional
  • Performs analysis or calculations as assigned
  • Creates work plan for assigned tasks. Monitors and projects personal workload status, advising supervisor of difficulties in accomplishing schedules
  • Coordinates and checks work carefully to minimize all deficiencies, errors and omissions
  • Performs dimensional, interference, and basic design checks on the layouts and sketches of Licensed Professional and, as requested, on interdisciplinary drawing sets
  • Assists Licensed Professional with plotting/production/assembly of drawing packages and writing specifications
  • Maintains orderly work files and prepares clear well-written memos/ correspondence. When assigned, prepares presentation materials
  • Subject to final approval of Licensed Professional, checks shop drawings and submittal data for conformance with contract documents
  • Assists Licensed professionals in field inspections, development of solutions to field problems, preparation of field orders, addenda, and record drawings
  • Works toward accomplishing and documenting requirements to attain eligibility to take a professional licensing exam
  • Participates in professional community organizations and trade organizations within discipline
