BACKGROUND: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. At work in over 40 countries and 28 U.S. cities to restore safety, dignity and hope, the IRC leads the way from harm to home. The IRC office in Miami has been serving the community since the 1960s. Over the decades, IRC in Miami has provided critical support to refugees, asylees, survivors of human trafficking, unaccompanied minors, immigrant youth and their families. SCOPE OF ANTI-TRAFFICKING CASEWORK INTERN WORK: The Anti-Trafficking Casework Intern will assist the Anti-Trafficking team in providing services to survivors of all forms of human trafficking. The Anti-Trafficking Casework Intern will identify and provide community resources to clients that improve self-sufficiency. The Anti-Trafficking Casework Intern will also assist with community awareness and outreach efforts. Travel within the Miami-Dade region may be required. The hours for this position are flexible; however, will primarily be between 9AM and 5PM on weekdays, with occasional weekend activities. Please note that all internship positions are unpaid. Accepting candidates based in South Florida only. LEARNING OBJECTIVES: The intern will gain knowledge of solution-oriented, strengths-based care coordination for survivors of human trafficking. The intern will develop skills in trauma-informed, client-centered care. The intern will develop skills in mapping community assets and resources. The intern will develop skills in client empowerment and advocacy.
