About The Position

The Summer 2025 SEC Scholars Legal Program offers JD and LL.M. students the opportunity to engage in volunteer legal operations work within the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This program is designed to provide students with practical experience in various divisions of the SEC, allowing them to contribute to projects that support the Commission's mission. Participants will work under the guidance of SEC staff members and are expected to commit to a minimum of 16 hours per week for at least ten weeks during the summer.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited law school (JD or LL.M.) on at least a half-time basis.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must maintain student status throughout the duration of the program.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in legal research and writing.
  • Familiarity with securities law and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist SEC staff members on various legal projects and assignments.
  • Support litigation efforts and assist in drafting new regulations.
  • Help with reviews, exams, or public outreach initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with different divisions and offices within the SEC.
