We are seeking a Summer Cybersecurity Intern with our IT Security team. This is a remote internship scheduled to run from Monday June 9, 2025, to Friday August 15, 2025, but can be flexible for the right candidate. The pay rate for this position is anticipated to be $20.00 per hour. The position is not incentive or benefits eligible. Work hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Central Time. The summer cybersecurity intern will work with InfoSec team members to help protect ACT's digital assets and ensure the security of our systems. This position is for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in cybersecurity, working with professionals who have diverse backgrounds in information security and IT. ACT's InfoSec team collaborates closely with other Technology teams, as well as across our organization. In addition to gaining experience by working with current IT Security team members to potentially create and refine security protocols, candidates will have the opportunity to participate in original security projects. Successful candidates will be matched to projects in their field of study that align with their interests.

Requirements

  • Must be working toward a B.S. in cybersecurity, information security, or related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
  • Strong data skills
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaborating when necessary
  • Confidentiality
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles
  • Knowledge of information technology or application development principles
  • Knowledge of identity and access management principles

Responsibilities

  • Conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing
  • Developing and implementing security policies and procedures
  • Investigating security incidents and providing recommendations for remediation
  • Exploring the use of data to enhance security measures
  • Improving identity systems
  • Participate in original security projects related to developing and examining the efficacy of security measures
  • Clean and analyze security data
  • Write and edit security reports
  • Design, create, and revise security protocols
  • Run security awareness training sessions
