About The Position

Lakeside School, an independent coeducational day school located in north Seattle, Washington, is currently seeking Global Service Learning (GSL) Trip Leaders for the summer of 2025. This role is essential for managing and executing all aspects of the assigned trip, which may include locations such as Peru, Costa Rica, Fiji, Tanzania, Senegal, and French Polynesia. The GSL Trip Leaders will work closely with the Associate Director of Global Programs to ensure that the program design is followed and that the trip runs smoothly. The leaders will be responsible for facilitating pre-trip meetings, overseeing the program on-site, and ensuring the health and safety of all student participants during the trip. The GSL Trip Leaders will be required to attend several pre-trip meetings, including medical and logistics meetings, and participate in leader training sessions. They will travel with students and co-leaders to the host country, residing in the community with the group. The expected travel dates are from June 20 to July 20, with some flexibility for flight schedules. Leaders will oversee all aspects of the program, including travel logistics, home-stay arrangements, service work with partner organizations, and daily reflection meetings. They will also be responsible for maintaining financial records and submitting evaluations and budget reports upon return. Candidates for this position should have experience leading student groups overseas, and fluency in additional languages is a plus. A background in experiential and outdoor education is desirable, along with a strong sense of integrity, flexibility, and teamwork. All applicants must hold a college degree and be at least 25 years old if they are not alumni of Lakeside School. The position requires a commitment to cultural awareness and the ability to interact respectfully with diverse cultures. Additionally, candidates must pass criminal background checks and may have their Wilderness First Aid/CPR certification covered by Lakeside if needed.
