Purpose: The Suitability Specialist is a fast-paced and dynamic role that combines financial analysis, risk-based decision making and being a point of contact to our key distribution partners for Suitability. Suitability Specialists partner with producers to help their clients “Retire Better” and make sure we are following Suitability regulations.

Requirements

  • College degree preferred, but not required. Military experience will be considered in lieu of formal degree.
  • 1+ years of financial or insurance industry experience required; annuity processing strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of navigating multiple computer systems with minimal assistance required
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communications required to explain sophisticated concepts and processes to a diverse customer base.
  • Prior experience analyzing and evaluating data to make business decisions required.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes policy contracts and customer financial information to determine suitability of the annuity sale, focusing on Athene’s guidelines as well as NAIC Suitability, state, and federal regulations.
  • Evaluates and reviews suitability documentation for validity and completeness.
  • Gather additional information and provide analysis, extensively document decisions and actions, and evaluate and complete information for final suitability recommendation.
  • Communicates effectively with the producer, back office and/or Business Relationship Management/Sales staff. This includes both e-mail and telephone work.
  • Builds and maintains Suitability knowledge of our products and regulations.
  • Manages outstanding requirements as part of the suitability process.
  • Contacts customers to validate information provided to analyze suitability of products.
  • Provides prompt, courteous, and accurate customer service related to suitability, regulatory issues, and contract requirements
  • Ensures accurate, efficient, and consistent analysis through established workflow processes.
  • Communicates and partners with our Compliance department on higher risk suitability cases.
  • Actively participates as a team member in identifying trends to assist with problem resolution.
