About The Position

Centurion is proud to be the provider of comprehensive services to the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. We are currently seeking a Part-time Day Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Assessor to join our team at Baltimore Central Booking and Intake Center (BCBIC) located in Baltimore, Maryland. The Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Assessor conducts initial and ongoing assessments of patients in substance use programs to determine substance use treatment needs. They conduct initial screening assessments for those entering the facility and refer patients for addiction medical, substance use counseling and re-entry services as needed. They are also responsible for following up with the patient to make sure they are receiving the desired resources. SUD Assessors also help the team identify people missed on the initial screening through working with the medical team, custody staff and making rounds on the housing tiers. SUD Assessors refer patients for SUD counseling and for coincident medical, mental health and re-entry services as needed. Shift: Days, 16 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Peer Recovery Specialist or bachelor’s degree or higher in Behavioral or Social Sciences (Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or a related field)
  • Comfort communicating with patients and communicating with healthcare providers
  • Must be appropriately and actively certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/ BLS
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance, to include drug screen and criminal background check

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in corrections/ substance use program preferred
