The Washington Virtual Academy (WAVA) is seeking highly qualified and motivated teachers to work in an innovative environment. Virtual academy teachers are part of our pioneering effort in public education. Our teachers should therefore share the school's pioneering mission, vision, and approach. At WAVA middle school, our teachers work in teams of two general education teachers - one teaching ELA/History and the other teaching Math/Science to their team of 110 students. Teaching in a virtual academy requires a strong educational background and a firm understanding of how best practices from a regular classroom can be applied to our innovative model. Though we are primarily focused on academics, all of our teachers must be comfortable using technology and supporting new users of technology. Teachers work primarily from their homes.
