About The Position
Abraham Joshua Heschel School, located in New York City, is an independent Jewish school serving grades N-12. The school is dedicated to nurturing children's curiosity, imagination, and critical thinking skills, aiming to inspire graduates to become responsible adults and compassionate citizens. The school is currently seeking daily on-call substitute teachers for the 2023-24 school year for both General Studies and Judaic Studies. The substitute teacher will have the opportunity to work across various divisions and disciplines, providing a dynamic and engaging educational experience for students. The typical working hours for the Early Childhood division are from 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM Monday through Thursday, and 7:45 AM to 1:45 PM on Friday. Substitute teachers may be assigned to one classroom for the day or may rotate between classrooms as needed, serving grades N-K. In the Lower School, the working hours are similar, with the addition of a later finish on Wednesdays, from 7:45 AM to 4:20 PM. This division serves grades 1-5. For the Middle School, the working hours extend to 4:30 PM Monday through Wednesday, with a slightly earlier finish on Thursday and Friday. Substitute teachers in this division will cover individual periods and may have breaks in between, serving grades 6-8. The position offers a pay rate of $150 per day and $75 for half a day, making it a flexible opportunity for those looking to engage with students in a meaningful way while contributing to the school's mission of fostering a supportive and enriching educational environment.
