About The Position

Abraham Joshua Heschel School, located in New York City, is an independent Jewish school serving grades N-12. The school is currently seeking daily on-call substitute teachers for the 2023-24 school year for both General Studies and Judaic Studies. The substitute teacher will have the opportunity to work across various divisions and disciplines, providing a dynamic and engaging educational experience for students. The typical working hours for the Early Childhood division are from 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM Monday through Thursday, and 7:45 AM to 1:45 PM on Friday. Substitute teachers may be assigned to one classroom for the day or may rotate between classrooms as needed, serving grades N-K. In the Lower School, the working hours are similar, with the addition of a later finish on Wednesdays, from 7:45 AM to 4:20 PM. This division serves grades 1-5. For the Middle School, the working hours extend to 4:30 PM Monday through Wednesday, with a slightly earlier finish on Thursday and Friday. Substitute teachers in this division will cover individual periods and may have breaks in between, serving grades 6-8. The position offers a pay rate of $150 per day and $75 for half a day, making it a flexible opportunity for those looking to engage with students in a meaningful way while contributing to the school's mission of fostering a supportive and enriching educational environment.
