About The Position

The Substitute Classroom Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The teacher is responsible for growth in student learning and must meet with the school's administration for specific daily job duties.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Fingerprints must be up to date.
• Attend a substitute safety meeting.
• Be added to the approved substitute list.

Responsibilities

• Establish learning objectives with written lesson plans available in the classroom.
• Teach effectively using designated subject matter as outlined by Board approved Program Structure and Curriculum Guides.
• Utilize a variety of techniques and materials to stimulate learning.
• Differentiate assignments to meet individual needs and explain assignments clearly.
• Limit homework to meaningful tasks related to the lesson.
• Evaluate pupil learning frequently to improve teaching and learning.
• Maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning and demonstrate understanding of child growth and development.
• Exhibit substantial knowledge of subject matter and curriculum objectives.
• Maintain control and promote self-discipline and respect for others.
• Follow rules and regulations of the assigned school and the Rapides Parish School Board.
• Attend administrative and professional meetings called by the Principal.
• Notify the Principal in case of absence and maintain an attractive and clean classroom.
• Be responsible for field trips, ensuring educational value and proper supervision.

Benefits

• Salary: $50.75 for non-degreed, $65 for degreed, $125 for valid teaching certificate.
