About The Position

Assisting lead teacher in planning and implementing a nationally accredited early education program to ensure health, safety, and enrichment of children. This position includes a 90-day evaluation period, after which performance will be reviewed.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Meet all State Child Care Licensing Requirements including Food Handler’s permit, CPR/First Aid.
  • An understanding of and agreement with YWCA Utah’s mission, values and philosophy regarding the elimination of racism, empowerment of women and commitment to anti-oppression work and social justice.
  • Understanding and commitment to issues of cultural diversity and anti-racism.
  • Ability to work scheduled hours on a regular basis, some weekends and evenings required.
  • Proficiency with general office duties, computer systems and technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time, evaluate progress, and adjust activities to complete projects within established timeframe.
  • Demonstrated experience functioning within multidisciplinary settings.
  • Skilled in establishing effective working relationships.
  • Ability to collaborate and invite collaboration.
  • Able to demonstrate skills in effective communication, conflict resolution and problem solving.
  • Must be able to pass a Department of Health and Human Services background check, eVerify, and i9.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience in administrative and/or non-profit operations, programs, policies and protocols.
  • Familiarity with basic budgeting and bookkeeping.

  • General knowledge of direct victim services, violence against women and sexual violence issues; gender and race equity, from a feminist perspective.
  • Understanding of equity, anti-oppression and trauma-informed philosophies.
  • Early Childhood training and/or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, implementing and supervising early preschool education activities in order to enhance their cognitive, social, emotional and physical growth.
  • Provide developmentally-appropriate education and care, comfort, nurturing and guidance to early preschool children in order to enhance their emotional and physical growth as outlined by NAEYC and State Licensing guidelines.
  • Ensure the cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of facility according with health and hygiene standards, including but not limited to the toileting area, toys, cots, sheets, diaper changing area and food service/preparation area.
  • Responsible for accurate record keeping, data collection, and anecdotal child reports in order to ensure coordinated departmental interventions.
