About The Position

Holy Redeemer Catholic School is seeking to hire Substitute Teachers for the 2021-2022 school year. The Substitute Teacher provides coverage for classroom teachers or assistants when needed, performs duties that are instructional in nature, and serves in a position for which a teacher has ultimate responsibility for the design and implementation of educational programs and services. Duties include, but are not limited to, interpretation and implementation of lessons plans, communication with the permanent teacher on student status, and management of classroom behavior. These duties should be performed in alignment with the mission of Holy Redeemer Catholic School.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. College or Degree a plus.
  • Related experience in similar position is preferred.
  • Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings.
  • Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church.
  • Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese.
  • The ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to reach, grasp, feel, and see up close and from afar.
  • Must be able to use basic office computer hardware and peripherals, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in written form.
  • Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (15 pounds).

Responsibilities

  • Provides extra assistance to students with special needs, such as non-English-speaking students or those with physical and mental disabilities.
  • Supervises students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, recess fields, and gymnasiums.
  • Tutors and assists children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
  • Enforces administration policies and rules governing students.
  • Follows assigned duties from classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts.
  • Instructs and monitors students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.
  • Presents subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods.
  • Observes students' performance, and records relevant data to assess progress.

  • Supervises scheduled recess times for students.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate, listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

  • Strong command of both written and spoken English language.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
