About The Position

Substitute Teacher _________________________________________________________________ Job Title: Substitute Teacher Reports to: School Administrator or Principal Job Type: Temporary, Part-time, On-call Key Responsibilities: Classroom Instruction: Deliver lessons according to the regular teacher's lesson plans. Adapt teaching strategies to engage students in learning. Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment. Classroom Management: Maintain discipline and ensure student safety. Manage student behavior following school policies. Report any incidents or issues to school administration Attendance and Record Keeping: Take daily attendance. Record any student absences or behavioral incidents Collaboration with Staff: Communicate with school staff regarding lesson plans, student needs, and expectations. Provide feedback to the regular teacher regarding student performance or any challenges encountered. Supervision: Supervise students in various settings (classroom, lunchroom, playground) as required. Ensure that students follow school safety procedures. Adaptability: Be flexible with varying assignments and subject matters. Quickly familiarize yourself with the school's policies, procedures, and technology. Qualifications: Education: Minimum of a high school diploma; some positions may require a bachelor's degree or certification in teaching. Experience: Prior teaching or classroom experience is preferred, but not always required. Skills: Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively. Patience, adaptability, and a positive attitude. Work Environment: Substitutes may work in a variety of educational settings, including elementary, middle, or high schools. The position is typically on-call, with assignments ranging from a single day to longer-term periods. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods. May be required to lift or move classroom materials.
