About The Position

Sunlight Christian Academy is a private, faith-based school dedicated to providing a Christ-centered education that equips students to shine the light of Jesus in the world. We strive to cultivate a nurturing, supportive environment where teachers and students grow in faith, wisdom, and excellence. The Substitute Teacher will provide classroom instruction in the absence of the regular teacher, maintaining an environment that reflects Christian values, supports student learning, and promotes respect and order. The substitute is expected to follow the lesson plans provided, manage classroom behavior, and uphold the mission and values of Sunlight Christian Academy. While we may not currently have an opening, we are building a pool of qualified candidates to join our team when the need arises.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree or teaching certification preferred.
• Commitment to Sunlight Christian Academy’s mission and Christian values.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for teaching and mentoring students in a Christ-centered environment.
• Prior teaching or classroom experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to manage a classroom and engage students in a respectful and effective manner.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible, dependable, and punctual.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students using lesson plans and materials provided by the regular teacher.
• Maintain classroom discipline and ensure a safe, respectful environment.
• Integrate a biblical worldview in teaching practices when appropriate.
• Supervise students during classroom time, transitions, and recess/lunch (as needed).
• Communicate any student issues or incidents to school administration.
• Follow all school policies and procedures, including emergency protocols.
• Uphold and model Christian values in attitude, speech, and conduct.
