About The Position
The Out-of-Door Academy seeks Substitute Teachers who are committed to providing a relevant and student-centered learning experience. Responsibilities Reporting to the Division Heads, the Substitute Teacher will be responsible for the following: Follows instructions from school office and lead teacher to ensure optimal, engaging learning for students. Assigns classwork and homework as prescribed by the teacher. Modifies instructional style to fit the learning needs of students. Supervises students outside of the classroom, in hallways, at lunch, at recess, drop off and pick up if required. Ensures classroom instruction is handled according to the school’s policies, goals and objectives. Manages student behavior and maintains classroom order. Takes necessary and reasonable action to ensure the safety of students, materials, and school equipment. Follows up on an instruction left by the lead teacher and ensures they are followed appropriately Live the school’s mission and core values of respect, integrity, service, excellence, and responsibility.
Requirements
- Ability to develop rapport with students and exhibit enjoyment in working with students.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Computer literacy and proficiency.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s Degree and teaching experience is preferred.
