About The Position

St. Joseph's Catholic School is looking to add a positive, flexible, and Faith centered Substitute Teacher to our sub pool. The Substitute Teacher fills in for the classroom teacher in their temporary absence, and works to provide support, care, and instruction in line with the mission of St. Joseph's. With a 130 year legacy, St. Joseph's endeavors to build a community which represents the best of our Catholic identity while nurturing learners to the promise we see in each of them. With a well organized program, our substitute teachers follow detailed plans and guides provided by the classroom teacher. This position, with hallmarks of dependability and positivity, reports to the principal, and are extensions of our team as we interact with the community.

Requirements

• Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church
• Knowledge of instructional methods/strategies and curriculum differentiation
• Able to work well with others in the school community
• Ability to manage student behavior in classroom setting.
• Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously
• Skill in job appropriate technology
• Skill in managing conflicts effectively
• Skill in organizational management and delegation of responsibilities
• High School Diploma
• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
• Must meet the minimum requirements for teaching field as set forth by the Diocese and TCCED.

Responsibilities

• Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
• Support and adhere to the Standards of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school.
• Follow instruction set by classroom teacher with logically sequenced objectives based on adopted curriculum.
• Provide appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning.
• Practice positive, consistent discipline in the management of the classroom.
• Maintain current and accurate records according to school policies.
