Job SummarySubstitute Teacher Sacred Heart Catholic School – Florissant The Substitute Teacher provides instructional support and classroom leadership on an as‑needed basis. This role ensures continuity of learning by following the teacher’s lesson plans, maintaining a positive classroom environment, and supporting the Catholic mission of the school.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field preferred.
  • Missouri teaching certification or substitute teacher permit may be required, depending on assignment.
  • Prior teaching or classroom experience preferred but not always required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to step into different grade levels and subject areas.
  • Basic understanding of classroom technology and instructional tools.
  • Dependability, professionalism, and a commitment to the school’s Catholic mission.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and implement prepared lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher.
  • Model and uphold Catholic values in all interactions with students and staff.
  • Incorporate faith-based principles into lessons and activities when appropriate.
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment consistent with Catholic teachings.
  • Encourage critical thinking, creativity, engagement, and a love for learning.
  • Support students’ spiritual, academic, and social-emotional development.
  • Maintain high expectations for student behavior and achievement.
  • Manage classroom routines, transitions, and supervision duties as required.
  • Communicate any important information, concerns, or notable student issues to school leadership.
