About The Position

Colorado International Language Academy (CILA) is a unique international charter school offering language immersion (50% in 1st-5th grades) in three world languages—Mandarin Chinese, German, and Spanish. Our students not only learn math and language literacy, but also gain insight into cultural aspects of their target language, fostering a GLOBAL perspective. At CILA, students develop essential 21st-century skills by exploring diverse cultures, gaining respect and understanding, and preparing to live and work in a global community.

Position Overview:
We are seeking passionate and dedicated substitute teachers for the 2024/25 school year who can step in and support our students’ learning when full-time teachers are unavailable. Substitute teachers play a vital role in maintaining the continuity of learning and creating a positive, engaging classroom environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher (Education degree preferred, but not required).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with diverse student populations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in place of regular classroom teachers, following the teacher’s lesson plans or, if necessary, adapting plans to meet the needs of students.
• Support English language literacy, including reading comprehension, spelling, grammar, vocabulary, and writing, for elementary students.
• Manage classroom behavior effectively, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
• Supervise students in various settings including classrooms, recess, lunchtime, and during transitions.
• Maintain classroom routines and support students with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
• Collaborate with staff and follow school protocols for instructional support and behavior management.
• Escort students to and from different locations as needed (e.g., lunchroom, playground, etc.).
