About The Position

Under the supervision ofthe Teacher, the Substitute Teacher shall deliver high quality educationalservices in a center-based classroom setting. The Substitute Teacher isresponsible for assisting in the implementation of a full day Preschool and/orInfant/Toddler classroom that will provide children and families withcomprehensive quality services.

Requirements

  • Strongcommunications skills, especially good listening and writing skills.
  • Ability to work with infants/toddlers,preschool children, and peers.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • FloridaDepartment of Children and Families (DCF) – before commencement in classroom.
  • PersonnelOrientation Course (5 hours) that includes Universal Precautions, FireExtinguisher, and Medication Administration.
  • Within30 days of employment – Safe Sleep Course
  • Within90 days of employment – DCF 40 hours Required Course (Part I and Part II), DCF5 hour Literacy Course
  • Health & Nutrition in the School Readiness Program
  • Safety Practices in the School Readiness Program
  • Maintaina current Infant/Toddler/Young Child CPR and First Aid Certifications.
  • Stateand National criminal background screenings and Child Abuse Registry.
  • Subjectto random Drug Testing.
  • Physicaland TB test
  • Education Degree Type: High School/GED
  • Required: Yes
  • Work Experience Required: Previous experience in Early Childhood setting (example: church nurseryor preschool, school, childcare setting, summer preschool camp, aftercare.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen.
  • Must be able to provide references for the previous 5 years work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers with maintaining a safe and healthy indoorand outdoor learning environment through routine health and safety checks.
  • Actively supervise children at all times by maintain ratio indoors and outdoorslearning environments.
  • Assisting teachers with conducting daily child healthchecks.
  • Assist teaching staff with curriculum implementation toencourage social, emotional, physical, and cognitive skill development throughdevelopmental learning activities and environmental set-up.
  • Assist teacher in carrying out lesson plans and implementcurriculum.
  • Assist teacher with daily student attendance.
  • Assist with contacting parent/guardian after 1 hour ofunplanned student attendance.
  • Assist with meal serviceas needed.
  • Establish positive and productive relationships withchildren, parents, co-workers, and visitors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
