Substitute Teacher - Bishop Reicher
About The Position
The Substitute Teacher fills in for the classroom teacher in their temporary absence, and works to provide support, care, and instruction in line with the mission of Bishop Reicher Catholic School. Our substitute teachers follow detailed plans and guides provided by the classroom teacher. This position, with hallmarks of dependability and positivity, reports to the principal, and is an extension of our team as we interact with our school community. Ministerial Character Positions employed at St. Louis Catholic Church and Bishop Reicher Catholic School help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Employees help the Pastor with the vision of the parish and school. Our purpose is to welcome sinners and foster saints, through living out our parish core values of relationship, joy, and excellence, as an example to all in the Diocese of Austin and the State of Texas, exhibiting integrity in all that we do as we serve Jesus Christ. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his/her ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.
Requirements
- Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church
- Knowledge of instructional methods/strategies and curriculum differentiation
- Able to work well with others in the school community
- Maintain confidentiality regarding school matters
- Ability to manage student behavior in classroom setting
- Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously
- Skill in job appropriate technology
- Skill in managing conflicts effectively
- Skill in organizational management and delegation of responsibilities
- High School Diploma
- College Degree Preferred
- Valid Texas driver's license.
- Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.

Responsibilities
- Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of Bishop Reicher Catholic School
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church
- Support and adhere to the Standards of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school
- Follow instruction set by classroom teacher with logically sequenced objectives based on adopted curriculum
- Provide appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning
- Practice positive, consistent discipline in the management of the classroom
- Maintain current and accurate records according to school policies
