About The Position
Kokua is seeking part-time substitute teachers in Red Wing and the surrounding Minneapolis area for the 2025 - 2026 school year. The role involves creating powerful moments that inspire students and shift their perception of what's possible. Kokua, meaning 'to come together to fulfill a need' in Hawaiian, connects talented individuals to K-12 schools to address the teacher shortage crisis. Founded by a former teacher, Kokua has over 13 years of experience building a diverse network of dedicated substitute teachers who aim to make a difference in students' lives, believing that one role model can change a student's life forever.
Requirements
- 6 months experience working with students (tutoring, camps, volunteer and other experience counts!)
- Bachelor's Degree or higher
- Willingness to commute to Red Wing area MN
- MN Substitute Teaching License or Educators license
- Confidence to manage a classroom of students
- Ability to pass state & federal background check
- Have reliable means of transportation, and willingness to commute to a school in Red Wing
Responsibilities
- Substitute teach for daily and long-term assignments
- Manage a classroom of students
- Positively contribute to the community and spark a love for learning with students
- Add representation to the classroom to help kids learn from unique experiences
