About The Position

To provide instruction and maintain a learning environment that promotes learning and personal growth; to motivate pupils to develop skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to provide a strong academic foundation for continual education and the world of work according to each pupil's ability; to establish effective relationships with students, parents and other staff members.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • Valid Vermont Teaching License with appropriate endorsement for academic assignment and/or level of assignment is preferred.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory specific to assigned instructional academics program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on content and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Responsibilities

  • Implements lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
  • Provides students with standards based appropriate learning experiences.
  • Assesses and monitors learning using a variety of methods and adjusts instruction accordingly to individual student needs.
  • Communicates with teacher regarding student needs and issues
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
  • Completes appropriate records and prepares reports as necessary.
  • Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals.
  • Plans and coordinates the work of other employees, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
  • Creates an environment that is instructionally appropriate for age/grade of students.
  • Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter using current best practices and as specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
  • Monitors student discipline through an appropriate classroom management program.
  • Assists the administration in establishing and maintaining school-based discipline and a positive learning environment.
