About The Position

Kokua is seeking substitute teachers in the Northbrook area for the 2025-26 school year. The role involves making a positive impact in the community by connecting students with classroom role models and helping to address the teacher shortage. Kokua, meaning "to come together to fulfill a need" in Hawaiian, aims to empower students through dedicated substitute teachers. Founded by a former teacher, Kokua has been connecting talented individuals to K-12 schools for over 13 years, operating across the country and serving schools in Chicago. The company believes in the power of a single role model to change a student's life and is committed to building a diverse network of substitute teachers.

Requirements

6 months experience working with students (tutoring, camps, volunteer and other experience counts!)
Associate's Degree (or 60+ credit hours) or higher
Willingness to commute to Northbrook for teaching assignments
IL Substitute Teaching License or Paraprofessional license
Confidence to manage a classroom of students
Ability to pass state & federal background check
Have reliable means of transportation
