About The Position

Shady Side Academy’s Senior School (9th-12th Grade in Fox Chapel) is seeking substitute teachers. A candidate may choose to substitute teach at one Shady Side campus or multiple campuses. Please indicate which campus(s) you would like to substitute teach during your interview. If a candidate is a parent of a current Shady Side student, they will not be permitted to substitute teach in their child’s class.

Requirements

• A depth of knowledge and understanding of working with children
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Approaching all circumstances with flexibility and patience
• A bachelor’s degree is required
• PA clearances will be needed

Responsibilities

• Leading the class in the teacher’s absence
• May be required to fulfill other duties as assigned, such as carpool or lunch duty
• Using the Frontline absence management system to receive notifications for open positions
• Clear and timely communication with SSA personnel
• Being an integral part of a caring community of learners
• Treating all children and adults at SSA with respect and kindness
• Communicating with teachers or administrators any relevant information they need to know about the school day
