About The Position

The Substitute Teacher position is designed to enable each child/student to pursue an education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of his/her regular teacher. The substitute must work no less than 1 day a month and must be able to work at any of the listed schools: Staunton River High, Staunton River Middle, Goodview Elementary, Stewartsville Elementary, Moneta Elementary, or Huddleston Elementary Schools.

Requirements

• Must possess a high school diploma (or GED), an associate degree, or a bachelor's degree.
• Minimum age shall be eighteen (18) years of age.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board or Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Reports to the School Office upon arrival at school to sign-in.
• Reviews with the substitute plans, attendance forms, and schedules to be followed during the teaching day and will contact the office with questions.
• Teaches the lessons outlined in the absent teacher's lesson plan.
• Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practices dictate.
• Assumes responsibility for pupil behavior in class during lunch and recess periods, and during fire or other disaster drills.
• Lists assignments made and evaluates student's work.
• Performs such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.
