About The Position

The Substitute Teacher for Nursery - Eighth Grade classrooms is responsible for providing instruction and support to students in the absence of the regular teacher. This role requires collaboration with colleagues and educators to ensure a smooth learning experience for students. The position is available immediately and requires a commitment to maintaining a positive and effective classroom environment.

Requirements

• High School diploma required
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Experience managing a classroom and teaching children preferred
• Experience with progressive education preferred
• Willingness to collaborate and work as part of a team
• Ability to develop skills in working with individual children, small groups, and the whole class

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with other colleagues and educators in support of the children being covered
• Meeting and instructing assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
• Maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning
• Supervising lunch, rest, and/or recess
• Helping with set up, clean up, and some clerical work
• Taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, materials, equipment, and facilities
• Abiding by school regulations for health and safety during the 2023-2024 school year during the pandemic
• Substitutes specializing in Elementary Music, Physical Education, Art, Spanish, Library, and Movement are also needed
