About The Position

Substitute Teacher serves as a temporary replacement for regular classroom teachers during their absence, providing instruction and maintaining a structured learning environment in accordance with the district's educational policies. The substitute teacher ensures continuity of student learning and upholds classroom management practices while fostering a positive and engaging atmosphere.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement).
• Valid Ohio Substitute Teaching License (or ability to obtain one).
• Experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred.
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt to different learning environments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow lesson plans and provide engaging instruction.
• Ability to stand, walk, and occasionally lift classroom materials.
• Flexibility to work on short notice in various school locations.
• Background check and fingerprinting required per Ohio state regulations.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree or active teaching license preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans left by the regular teacher or develop appropriate classroom activities if lesson plans are unavailable.
• Maintain order in the classroom and manage student behavior following school policies.
• Deliver instruction in various subjects across grade levels, adapting teaching methods to meet student needs.
• Take attendance and document any student issues or notable classroom occurrences for the returning teacher.
• Provide students with necessary instructional support and guidance while promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with school staff, administrators, and students.
• Adhere to all district policies and procedures, including maintaining confidentiality.
