About The Position

This is a permanent, full-time position WITH benefits. This substitute will work a rotation of one week at Albemarle High filling in classrooms as needed and then one week at Albemarle Middle. Position Title: Substitute Teacher Term of Employment: Full Time and Full Benefits Reports To: Principal Pay Information: $15.00 per hour General Statement of Job In the absence of the regular classroom teacher, a substitute will help students learn subject matter and/or skills that are required for scheduled lessons and provide meaningful instruction for assigned classrooms. Hours and days are as needed and will vary. Stanly County Schools does not guarantee a minimum or maximum number of work days or hours for substitutes. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Requirements

• Good classroom management / discipline skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to read and write.
• Ability to administer teacher lesson plans.
• Ability to ensure a safe and healthful environment.
• Ability to assist students with understanding of rules and regulations.
• Ability to maintain cleanliness and neatness.
• Ability to maintain proper professional conduct.
• Ability to keep in confidence all personal, student or personnel records and information.
• Certified Substitutes must hold a valid NC teaching license
• Non-Certified Substitutes must hold a high school diploma or equivalent and must have completed Effective Teacher Training

Responsibilities

• Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
• Maintains, as fully as possible, the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom where assigned.
• Assumes the responsibilities for instructing classes when a teacher is absent.
• Assumes other responsibilities for that teacher during the time the teacher is absent.
• Assumes responsibility for overseeing student behavior in class, during lunch, and other activities.
• Follows all district and individual school policies, rules and procedures to which regular teachers are subject.
• Performs other duties as deemed appropriate and assigned by the School Administrator.
