About The Position

This is a permanent, full-time position WITH benefits. This substitute will work a rotation of one week at Albemarle High filling in classrooms as needed and then one week at Albemarle Middle. Position Title: Substitute Teacher Term of Employment: Full Time and Full Benefits Reports To: Principal Pay Information: $15.00 per hour General Statement of Job In the absence of the regular classroom teacher, a substitute will help students learn subject matter and/or skills that are required for scheduled lessons and provide meaningful instruction for assigned classrooms. Hours and days are as needed and will vary. Stanly County Schools does not guarantee a minimum or maximum number of work days or hours for substitutes. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Requirements

  • Good classroom management / discipline skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Ability to administer teacher lesson plans.
  • Ability to ensure a safe and healthful environment.
  • Ability to assist students with understanding of rules and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and neatness.
  • Ability to maintain proper professional conduct.
  • Ability to keep in confidence all personal, student or personnel records and information.
  • Certified Substitutes must hold a valid NC teaching license
  • Non-Certified Substitutes must hold a high school diploma or equivalent and must have completed Effective Teacher Training

Responsibilities

  • Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
  • Maintains, as fully as possible, the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom where assigned.
  • Assumes the responsibilities for instructing classes when a teacher is absent.
  • Assumes other responsibilities for that teacher during the time the teacher is absent.
  • Assumes responsibility for overseeing student behavior in class, during lunch, and other activities.
  • Follows all district and individual school policies, rules and procedures to which regular teachers are subject.
  • Performs other duties as deemed appropriate and assigned by the School Administrator.
