About the position

The Teacher position at Elk Grove Unified School District involves planning, implementing, monitoring, and assessing a classroom instructional program under the direction of a site principal or other appropriate administrator. The role requires teaching various subjects including reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education. The teacher is responsible for establishing standards of pupil behavior, identifying pupil needs, and cooperating with other professional staff to address health, emotional, social, and learning problems. Participation in curricular and extra-curricular activities, communication with parents, and maintaining records regarding students are also essential functions of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, monitor, and assess a classroom instructional program consistent with District and Board goals.
  • Teach various subjects to pupils utilizing the adopted course of study.
  • Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter as specified by state law.
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior for a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other staff to address health and learning problems.
  • Participate in curricular and extra-curricular school programs and meetings.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding instructional goals and student progress.
  • Develop and communicate curricular and instructional plans to students and parents.
  • Assess student progress and communicate results to parents.
  • Represent the District and assigned school to local and State groups.
  • Provide instruction to students with special needs in accordance with IEPs.
  • Maintain records regarding students and prepare reports as directed.
  • Develop lesson plans in accordance with site and District policy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, including courses needed to meet credential requirements.
  • Student teaching classroom experience.
  • Valid California Teaching Credential.
