About The Position

Ledyard Public Schools is seeking a Long Term Substitute 2nd Grade Teacher at Gallup Hill School beginning in February through the end of the 2025-2026 school year (based on the needs of the district). The successful candidate will work under the general supervision of the School Administrator to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills.

  • Bachelor's degree
  • CT teaching certification (305)

  • Successful elementary teaching experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work in the interest of the students' physical and emotional welfare and to embrace a growth mindset
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
  • Accept and incorporate suggestions for classroom improvement
  • Keep inventory of materials, equipment and supplies
  • Maintain contact with parents and school personnel as needed to evaluate students' academic and social growth
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of people, including students, their parents, and staff
  • Continue to acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research
  • Collaborate with colleagues in order to best meet the academic and social emotional needs of students as well as foster a positive school-wide culture
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
