Substitute Teacher - Certified
About The Position
To supervise and instruct students in the absence of a teacher to ensure the continuity of student learning and maintaining classroom order. Please note that this posting is only for Certified Substitute Teachers . You must have a valid NYS teaching certificate to become a Certified Substitute Teacher in the WCSD. PLEASE ATTACH PROOF OF YOUR CERTIFICATION TO YOUR APPLICATION. If you do not have a current NYS certification, please apply to the NON-CERTIFIED SUBSTITUTE TEACHER POSTING. Before being added to the Substitute Teacher list, you must complete all paperwork and view an online orientation. Once your references have been checked, you will receive an e-mail with detailed instructions regarding picking up a paperwork packet and viewing the orientation. Building Sub Teachers are assigned to one specific building while the students are in attendance. Each morning, the main office secretary will assign the building sub to whatever classroom needs a sub. The building sub will follow the lesson plans left by the teacher. If no classrooms require a sub teacher, the building sub will be assigned other work as directed by administration. Very occasionally, another school may need additional subs and the building sub may be asked to help out at the other school. Building subs must commit to work for a minimum of 4 days/week (5 days preferred) for a full semester. (Building subs are pulled from the sub teacher list each year.) Long Term Subs (LTS) are certified per diem subs who work 30 or more consecutive work days for the same teacher . When the consecutive days of the assignment are completed, the rate of pay will return to per diem sub rate . (This does not apply if subbing for a Teaching Assistant or if covering only a portion of the teacher's scheduled day.) This is still considered a per diem sub teacher position and the LTS will be eligible for the $250 Bonus each semester. (Long Term Subs are appointed by principals as needed.)
