Requirements

• Substitute Teaching Certification or Substitute Authorization license.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Associate's degree or 48+ college credits for paraprofessional roles.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
• No prior experience necessary; training is provided.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with students.
• Familiarity with classroom management techniques.
• Knowledge of Visual Basic.

Responsibilities

• Assume duties of the classroom teacher in accordance with school district lesson plans and policies.
• Lead instruction in the classroom by conducting the teacher's existing lesson plans.
• Teach students on a variety of classroom topics/courses.
• Build positive relationships with students.
• Assign reasonable tasks and homework to students.
• Empower students to learn and encourage classroom participation.
• Create a conducive classroom environment appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Adapt to the various learning styles of students.
• For long-term assignments, develop lesson plans and grade tests and assignments.
• Provide classroom assistance to the district/school teacher and support to general education or special needs students.
• Ensure adequate supervision of students and maintain a safe classroom environment.
• Assist students in transition to and from classrooms as needed.
• Understand and address the needs of each student, recognizing differences in their abilities.
