The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) is seeking a Substitute Teacher for its Alternative Education programs. This role is essential in providing direct instruction to students who are part of vulnerable populations within Orange County. The OCDE serves over 475,000 students across 28 school districts and is committed to ensuring that all students have access to quality education and support services. The Substitute Teacher will be responsible for delivering individualized, targeted, and differentiated instruction in various instructional settings, including Community Day Schools, Independent Study programs, and the Sunburst Youth Academy, among others. The ACCESS program offers multiple learning environments tailored to meet the diverse needs of students in grades TK-12. The Community Day School provides a structured year-round program for students in grades 7-12, focusing on small-group instruction. The Independent Study/Contract Learning program allows for one-on-one teacher interaction, requiring students to complete significant homework assignments. The Sunburst Youth Academy, in partnership with the National Guard, offers a unique 17-month program for students aged 16-18, combining academic instruction with mentoring support. Additionally, the Pacific Coast High School and Community Home Education Program cater to high school and home-educated students, respectively, providing various educational resources and support. As a Substitute Teacher, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the continuity of education for students during the absence of regular teachers. You will be expected to implement lesson plans, manage classroom behavior, and provide a safe and engaging learning environment. This position requires flexibility, as assignments may vary from day-to-day or extend into long-term placements, depending on the needs of the school and the availability of the substitute teacher.
