About The Position

Newtown Public Schools November 18, 2025 POSITION: Substitute School Nurse; 8:00am-4:00pm; PRN SCHOOL: Newtown School District STARTING DATE: Immediately REMUNERATION: $40.00 / hour RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide routine and emergency health care, including medication administration, to students grades preschool -12. Maintain student health condition management (EHCP, IHCP, 504, IEP, Homebound) & make appropriate referrals. Promote and protect the optimal physical, social and emotional health of school-age children in order to support the education process. Implement all federal, state and local screening mandates and laws. Observe, identify and address health patterns and atypical findings. Maintain, evaluate and interpret cumulative health data to accommodate individual needs of the students. Provide health education and appropriate referrals to community resources for students and families. Serve as a liaison between the student, school and home. Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; related degrees considered.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice nursing in the State of Connecticut.
  • Current CPR Certification required.
  • Minimum of one year experience in hospital nursing, school health nursing, community health nursing, or pediatric nursing.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technology skills and knowledge of Google sheets and docs.
