Under supervision of a designated supervisor, a school bus driver operates a school bus in a highly skilled manner in transporting students to and from school on as needed routes in accordance with state laws and regulations.
Drive a school bus on an assigned route, observing all traffic laws, rules and regulations.
Load and off load students at specific stops on an established time schedule.
Check vehicle before each trip to determine possible deficiencies.
Report mechanical difficulties to supervisor.
Record fuel, oil and mileage readings.
Keep vehicle clean inside and out.
Maintain discipline on bus and report discipline problems to designated authority.
Attend in-services and training as required.
Annually pass the District's required online training by the District's assigned due date.
Perform physical requirements unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing the operation of a school bus.
Knowledge of traffic signs and devices.
Knowledge of safe motor vehicle driving techniques.
Knowledge of state and district rules regarding traffic safety and passenger loading.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and lawful manner.
Ability to maintain student management/control while underway.
Ability to conduct yourself in a professional workplace manner.
Possess or be able to obtain, in a timely fashion, a valid CDL license and Oregon School Bus Driver Certificate.
