About The Position

Under general supervision, operates a school vehicle in transporting children to and from school and on special trips; and performs related work as required.

Requirements

Knowledge of: Motor vehicle regulations and safe driving practices.
Ability to: Maintain order under difficult circumstances
Ability to: Understand and follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to: Maintain good public relations
Ability to: Keep records
Licenses: Possession of a valid California driver’s license
Training: The State of California requires twenty hours of classroom and behind-the-wheel training for school bus drivers.
Candidate’s application package, which must include: Supplemental Questionnaire, 10-year DMV printout (H-6), 10 Year Work History, K-4 DMV Record
Possession of a valid California Class B driver’s license
Class A Bus Driver’s Certificate issued by the California Highway

Responsibilities

Develops the most efficient route for transportation of assigned students
Drives bus along route, stops and designated points to pick up or discharge students
Maintains order and enforces rules
Reports and cities for disciplinary action in cases of extreme or repeated unruliness
Reports incidents
Files accident reports when necessary
Makes routine safety checks on vehicle
Reports problems or equipment malfunctioning
Maintains records of all trips
Keeps bus clean
