About The Position

This PRN position will provide continuity of clinic services to our school population when staffing needs arise. The schedule will vary depending on the needs of the school, but generally Clinic hours are 7:30-4pm.

Requirements

  • Current Georgia RN license
  • Minimum of one-year clinical experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Current BLS and First Aid certification through American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • HeartSaver Instructor Certification
  • Proficient computer skills including Excel, Outlook, Word, and school nursing software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to assess and provide first aid care to ill and injured students, employees, and visitors
  • Ability to assist students with specialized health care needs
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain organization in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Ability to manage change
  • Ability to create and maintain confidential and positive working relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, parents, students, school and community organizations and the general public
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to cover extra workdays (blood drives, flu shot clinics, teaching duties, vacation, and illness)

Responsibilities

  • Enable students to maximize time in classroom despite acute or chronic injuries or illnesses
  • Respond to injuries and illnesses of students, employees, and visitors during school hours
  • Facilitate campus health and safety
  • Facilitate compliance with State of Georgia and Georgia High School Association requirements
  • Provide direct care for acute needs
  • Assess and treat injuries and sudden illnesses of students, employees, and visitors
  • Arrange transfer to a higher level of care if necessary
  • Support ongoing student health needs
  • Follow existing individualized health plans and short-term or long-term accommodation plans
  • Communicate relevant care information to students, parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators as directed by the lead nurse
  • Monitor and document care provided in accordance with school policies
  • Share urgent health and safety concerns with Administration
  • Work with teachers, Counseling, Athletics, and Campus Ministry regarding students with immediate health-related needs
  • Refer students with mental health concerns to Counseling
  • Collect and process required health-related forms (e.g., immunization records, incident reports, GHSA forms)
  • Maintain accurate records of daily clinic visits and care provided
  • Follow established emergency procedures and respond to incidents appropriately
  • Maintain readiness of clinic supplies, first aid kits, and emergency equipment (AEDs, EpiPens)
  • Update Administration on urgent student mobility or medical concerns that may affect safety
  • Assist with routine health screenings or campus wellness activities if scheduled during assignment
  • Ensure the clinic remains clean, organized, and adequately stocked
