About The Position

Under the direction and supervision of the Hunt Club Recreation and Facility Manager, the preschool teacher is responsible for possessing a thorough understanding of the guidelines of early childhood education, maintaining excellent communication with parents and children, providing appropriate supervision of children, demonstrating professional classroom leadership, management and organization and thorough curriculum planning and execution.

Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years or older.
  • Bachelor or Associate degree in early childhood education or related field and/or commensurate experience.
  • Knowledge of early childhood milestones.
  • Ability to teach age-appropriate educational curriculum.
  • Identify needs and interests of children.
  • Effective communication with parents and fellow team members.
  • Provide appropriate supervision.
  • Display maturity, sound judgment and leadership.
  • CPR, First Aid and AED certification is required.
  • Ability to instruct and supervise children 2 ½ - 5 years.
  • Plan age-appropriate lessons.
  • Utilize computer-based programs for lesson development, forms and daily parent communication.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan preschool curriculum and activities using the State of Illinois Early Learning Standards for Preschool.
  • Instruct 16 - 20 students 8:1 or 10:1 ratio in a classroom setting.
  • Supervise students outdoors at recess and at parent drop off on a daily basis.
  • Set up and maintain an organized preschool classroom and storage.
  • Attend and participate in all preschool activities, events and meetings (parent/teacher conferences, open house, concert, graduation, special events).
  • Work cooperatively with co-teacher, other team members, manager.
  • Obtain and maintain all necessary documentation for enrolled participants.
  • Utilize computer and app based programs for classroom materials, parent communication, student forms and documents.
  • Digitally disseminate calendar, newsletter, daily class updates, student evaluations and other information on established schedule to parents.
  • Provide a safe, nurturing and educational environment students.
  • Maintain classroom and hallway security.
  • Establish and maintain excellent communication with parents.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to parents and park district patrons.
  • Greet children and parents by name on a daily basis.
  • Function within program budget.
  • Attend all staff meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain 10 hours of continuing education training annually.
