About The Position

The Substitute Parker Barista/Bartender at Thompson Central Park New York is responsible for the preparation and service of quality beverages for customers, as well as cashiering functions. Requirements

  • Passion for coffee
  • Professional Barista skills (e.g., pulling shots to order, latte art, math skills)
  • Food and beverage operations knowledge
  • Exceptional customer service and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of classic and modern mixed drinks, garnishes and glassware
  • Knowledge about alcohol beverages
  • Knowledge of bar operation and procedures according to Thompson Central Park standards
  • Knowledge of computerized register, preferably MICROS, and terminal
  • A positive and pleasant personality, patience
  • Ability to pass a barista evaluation
  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to compute basic math functions

Responsibilities

  • Requisition of supplies to maintain par stock
  • Check all incoming stock against previous requests
  • Stock up the shelves and counter area for the next service period
  • Maintain clean and organized storage spaces
  • Ensure proper storage of all service items according to code and hotel policies
  • Replenish all service items: paper items, general supplies, beverage, food and stewarding supplies
  • Ensure that coffee, liquor, soda and beer service is constantly replenished during shift
  • Report to the manager on duty any equipment shortage or problems
  • Load and unload dishwasher with glassware
  • Fill the ice wells as needed
  • Retrieve food from kitchen
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to ensure that others can locate resources or products as needed
  • Prepare quality, made-to-order gourmet coffees and other beverages
  • Ensure area is maintained neatly - both equipment and service area
  • Cultivate an inviting, welcoming facility
  • Clean and reset bar tables for service according to department manual standard
  • Break down and set up bar area with all bar supplies
  • Refill all napkin dispensers, milk dispensers, sugar containers, and other take away mise-en-place for guests
  • Maintain knowledge of all house specifications for beverage recipes
  • Prepare all drinks according to house recipes, utilizing proper tools and techniques
  • Refill display case with appropriate food items when appropriate
  • Prepare mise-en-place daily, each in accordance to the recipes and the direction provided by the chef and manager
  • Ensure sufficient mise-en-place of his/her station for all beverage menu items
  • Ensure proper food presentation by following set standards at all times
  • Workstation must be maintained clean at all times
  • Ensure sanitary measures are applied with at all times during preparation of all food items
  • Take orders from the guests at the bar and record them on checks
  • Prepare all beverage and food orders for guests
  • Regularly clean and maintain all areas of the bar, including but not limited to the front bar top, back bar shelves, drainboard, espresso machine, bottles, drip coffee shuttles
  • Follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products
  • Clean all glassware
  • Maintain glassware dishwasher
  • Follow all proper bar opening and closing procedures
  • Bus tables, as needed
  • Adhere to Thompson Central Park serving standards and policies
  • Assist with new employee training by positively reinforcing successful performance and coaching as needed
  • Attend training sessions, staff meetings, or other meetings as scheduled
